Herbs you can legally vaporize in New Zealand

Let’s be real - Vaporizing is generally associated with nicotine or cannabis, in reality there are a huge host of other herbs which can be vaped and have a host of beneficial effects. Of course these benefits are locked in the herbs themselves and can be gained as a tea or other methods, vaping is just more convenient on the run.

Also its worth mentioning that these herbal remedies are not a replacement for for prescribed medication, the effects are often not studied or proven in clinical studies

So without further ado here are some of our favorite herbs categorized by their effects.



Vape temp: 150°C

It may make your cat go crazy but for humans it does much the opposite. Catnip can improve relaxation, in turn boosting mood and reducing anxiety, restlessness, and nervousness.

This is due to the presence of nepetalactone, a light herbal sedative.

Lemon balm

Vape temp: 140°C

Helps ease stress and anxiety, Promotes sleep, relaxation, & digestive health. Tastes great too - lemony, as the name would suggest.

Lemon balm contains rosmarinic acid a compound with antioxidant properties


Vape temp: 140°C

Well-known for its uses in promoting relaxation and treating ailments such as insomnia and depression. A great addition to a blend for adding a relaxing kick.

Lavender has a very strong flavor and can easily overpower the blend, use sparingly.


Vape temp: 160°C

Believed natural remedy for stress, anxiety, depression as well as an aphrodisiac. Beyond that it just tastes delicious - I would add it to everything if I could get away with it.

Jasmine is often used as decoration and fragrance for marriages. In Thailand they are the symbol of motherhood


Vape temp: 150°C - 200°C

Skullcap is used for many conditions: trouble sleeping (insomnia), anxiety, all the way to epilepsy, nervous tension, allergies, skin infections, inflammation, and spasms.

Said to be effective by preventing inflammation, skullcap works for sleep and even withdrawal symptoms.

Cold / Flu

Licorice Root

Vape temp: 180°C

Licorice is perfect for those who need relief from a sore throat, heartburn, or a cold. These effects are cause by the glycyrrhizic acid which is anti-inflammatory and immune boosting.


Vape temp: 140°C

A natural antiseptic with antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Very versatile and can be used to treat colds, improve the immune system, alleviate sore throats, and reduce stress.

Vape temp: 140°C

A very common herb which can be used to help treat coughs, colds, headaches, and improve mental clarity. Also a rich source of antioxidants rosemary is a great addition to a focus blend.


Passion Flower

Vape temp: 150°C

Passion flower is native to North America, where it has been used for a long time as a mild sedative.

Can help with insomnia, anxiety, or depression as well as pain management and drug withdrawals.

Rose Pedals

Vape temp: 140°C

Helps make dreams more vivid, adds a lot of aroma and flavor.

Celea Zachatechichi (Dream Herb)

Vape temp: 190°C

Helps induce lucid dreams, has hallucinogenic effects when vaporized.

An ancient medicinal herb, people use Calea zacatechichi to induce psychic dreams, help remember dreams, and to increase dreaming.


Vape temp: 190°C

Used calming properties and also for its ability to produce a mild high that could best be compared to marijuana (though much more mild than cannabis)

Damiana was also used as an aphrodisiac by the natives in mexico and has been suggested to help with lucid dreaming.


Green tea

Vape temp: 190°C

Vaping green tea can be very stimulating as the caffeine hits the bloodstream quicker and more of it is released.

Green tea also contains L-theanine so the caffeine affects you differently, you likely won't feel the ‘jitters’ you would from coffee.

Refreshing flavor which gives a slight energy boost. Also said to assist in short term memory.

Coffee beans

Vape temp: 200°C

You can even vape Coffee beans! tastes like roasting coffee and gives that sweet caffeine kick.

Quitting tobacco / nicotine


Vape temp: 160°C

A great tobacco alternative. Brings up congestion if you've quit smoking or have a cold, also has some lung restorative properties. Awesome for those who are quitting smoking.

Vape temp: 150°C

Lobelia is similar to nicotine but is a nonaddictive substance. Can be nauseating to some but is used as a tobacco alternative, some stimulant properties.

Said to give protection from headaches and migraines if taken regularly.

Excellent anti inflammatory properties it also contains parthenolide which helps to relieve muscle spasms and reduce the widening of blood vessels that occur in migraines.

Touted as the wonder herb ginko is said to be helpful in the treatment of allergies, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety attacks, arthritis, ADD, circulatory disorders, cancer, coughs, depression, dizziness, equilibrium problems, headaches, heart & lung problems, memory loss, mood swings, muscular degeneration, tinnitus, toxic shock syndrome, varicose veins, vascular impotence & vertigo.

Really the effects of this plant are impressive even in clinical studies and would be worth checking out for any of the above reasons.
